Stable release · MSP customers and onboarding

The first stable asitplan 2 release improves MSP access, customer onboarding, provider administration and account recovery.

MSP customer work

  • Customer switching waits for the current sign-in and organisation context. Directory access opens customer details; operational work requires an assigned workspace role.
  • MSP administrators can update ordinary details for their linked customers. User access, connections and device settings retain their separate controls.

Customer assignment and onboarding

  • Platform administrators can assign customer organisations to an MSP, review inherited schools or sites and choose Customer-led or MSP-led onboarding.
  • MSP-led setup gives the assigned MSP control of customer invitations and responsibility teams. Administrators can nominate an onboarding coordinator and assign the named technician from the customer profile.
  • Onboarding control is separate from full management and final approval. MSP staff retain their home organisation and their existing identity.

Provider administration

  • Platform administrators, MSPs and distributors have separate management pages, with administrators and staff listed under their provider organisation.
  • MSP and distributor identities cannot be promoted to Platform Admin. Internal platform operators use separate asitplan accounts.

Recovery and release information

  • Authenticator recovery explains eligibility and distinguishes asitplan authenticators from Microsoft MFA. Factor removal still requires fresh verification and a separate confirmation.
  • The displayed version and release notes share one stable release record. Changed application releases receive an increased version during release preparation.

Workspace loading

  • Returning to a workspace retains its recent view while fresh data and access checks continue.

  • Smart Autocomplete Onboarding: We replaced manual text entry in the 'Add Customer' and 'Edit Customer' dialogs with a live search engine connected to the official UK Department for Education registry.
  • Instant Auto-fill: Selecting a school from the live search instantly populates official administrative data (URN, DfE number, Postcode, Phase), eliminating typos and speeding up onboarding.

  • MSP Owner Permissions: Fixed an issue where the database falsely rejected hardware inventory management operations by strict 'MSP Owner' accounts. 'isPartnerAdmin' logic now explicitly guarantees MSP Owners full write-access to their managed environments.
  • Project Dashboard Visibility: Fixed a backend rule evaluation that prevented the MSP Global Project Dashboard from securely fetching projects at scale. It now dynamically partitions and queries projects assigned directly to your MSP.

Data Integrity

  • Sub-Site Synchronization: Ran a global database migration to correctly stamp all legacy Sub-Sites (Schools inside a Trust) with their assigned MSP's Partner ID, instantly restoring accurate MSP dashboard statistics.

The Asset inventory Data Integrity Update

This is a critical update that refactors the underlying data model for the Asset inventory to resolve persistent UI bugs and improve data reliability. Your experience managing assets will now be much smoother and more predictable.

Complete Overhaul of Inventory Data Handling

  • Data Model Refactor: Overridden data (like custom RAG status, cost, and purchase dates) is now stored directly on the main device document in Firestore, rather than in a separate collection. This eliminates synchronization issues.
  • Instant UI Updates: When you now change a RAG status, cost, or purchase date, the change will be instantly reflected in the UI and will persist correctly after a page reload.
  • Consolidated Firestore Rules: Security rules have been simplified and strengthened, using field-level security to ensure users can only edit the fields they are permitted to.

  • Admin Lockout Fixed: Resolved a security rule issue where global administrators were incorrectly blocked from editing device override fields.

  • Smoother Popups: Closing a sign-in popup from Google or Microsoft will no longer trigger a disruptive error screen.

User Onboarding Improvements

  • Welcome Emails for New Users: When a new user is added to a customer account, they will now automatically receive a welcome email with a link to set their password and get started.

UI/UX Refinements

  • Cleaner Customer Overview: The 'Customers Overview' page has been streamlined. The arrows have been removed from rows, and the entire row is now clickable for easier navigation.
  • Intelligent Trust View: On the 'Customers Overview' page, the expand/collapse chevron icon will now only appear for Trust or Business accounts that actually have sub-sites to display.
